Gee Wiz!
How come you can't just be truly sick anymore without people thinking you're pregnant? You have a headache; people assume you're pregnant, You're tired, people assume you're pregnant; You have a wart; people assume you're pregnant. You can no longer feel ill without some nosy co-worker, relative, friend, grandparent or mother-in-law asking if you're expecting. God help it if you call into work sick, the following day, you are bombarded with nosy co-workers subtly asking if you're with child. "No, nosy co-worker. I am not pregnant. I was having explosive diarrhea yesterday." Remember that day when you went to your parents house and you laid on their sofa feeling unwell? Well, granny sure took notice of that! "How are you feeling, dear? Is there anything you need to tell me?" No granny, I feel fine. I'm just recovering from a bout of Ebola, Cholera and scarlet fever. Other than that, I'm good.
But you can't really say that you're any better. If a woman in child bearing age is feeling unwell, your first thought is "Oh great. I bet she's pregnant." You examine her stomach for a pregnancy bulge, watch if she's drinking any alcohol and count the number of times she urinates. And chances are she actually is pregnant. She is nauseous and it turns out she's three months. You are nauseous and it turns out drinking an entire bottle of vodka with chocolate cake is not a good idea.
